Petrojam has confirmed that it has been reimbursed just over $1 million it spent on a surprise party for former energy minister Dr Andrew Wheatley.
In a statement this afternoon, Petrojam said on December 31, it received a cheque for $1.37 million dollars.

It was accompanied by a cover of a letter from an Elizabeth Moyston indicating that the reimbursement was for the surprise party.
“The amount received represents reimbursement for the total cost of the birthday party,” said Petrojam General Manager Winston Winston in the statement
Wheatley was forced to step aside late last year as pressure mounted over his management of the portfolio
There was outrage after the Auditor General released a report detailing a litany of corruption, mismanagement and cronyism at the state-owned oil refinery

Wheatley had said he was raising funds from friends to repay the money
