A female national of Trinidad and Tobago opted to seek refuge abroad as part of the country’s witness protection programme, after she became a major whistle-blower in the scandalous LifeSport programme under the former administration. A former public officer with the Ministry of Sport, she had reported being targeted, and someone identified as her driver/bodyguard was subsequently killed, in the swirl of revelations about massive fraud and corruption in this programme which was aimed at at-risk youth. Centrepiece of LifeSport was the award of a contract to a company headed by someone renowned as a successful provider of educational upliftment to generations of people on the margins.
