They came from near and far, both young and old, braving the blazing midday heat to pay their final respects to former prime minister and political leader of the People’s National Movement (PNM) Patrick Manning. Manning passed away last week Saturday. Unable to be accommodated within the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Port of Spain, a mass of people crammed under several tents along Hart Street and congregated in Woodford Square to view the proceedings from large screens. From as early as 8 a.m. hundreds gathered along the Brian Lara Promenade to view the procession carrying Manning’s body to the church.
