Karisma Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to  break ground in January for its mega-hotel development at Llandovery in St. Ann.It will be known as the Sugar Cane Development.

Karisma says the deadline is subject to approval for permits from government agencies.    The development is scheduled to be completed by November.       According to Vice-President of  Corporate Affairs and Business Development for Karisma Hotels, Ruben Becerra, meetings have been held with government agencies, as part of  the “Shovel Ready’ investment programme.

    As part of  the Sugar Cane Development Project, Karisma plans to build 10 hotels over 10 years, with a total of  5,000 rooms, at a cost of  US$900 million .

This will create direct employment for 10 thousand Jamaicans.       Karisma Hotels & Resorts is a Florida-based operator of  five-star properties.     The hotel chain operates the Sensatori Jamaica Hotel and is currently building Azul Beach Negril.
