The portrait of the late Rex Nettleford, former University of the West Indies vice-chancellor and Jamaican Rhodes Scholar (Jamaica and Oriel 1957) now hangs in prominence in Milner Hall, Rhodes House, Oxford, England.

The painting is the work of Jamaican artist Michael Brooks (son of the late Professor Stanley Brooks) and was commissioned by the Rhodes Trust in 2016.

Nettleford is the second Jamaican whose likeness gazes over the hall in the centre of the Rhodes Scholarships which are awarded worldwide, the other being that of former Jamaican Premier and Rhodes Scholar, the Right Excellent Norman Washington Manley (Jamaica and Jesus 1914), whose image was captured by the late Barrington Watson.
